Happy Friday! I hope you had a good week. Our family had a positive and productive week.

I don’t know what your weather has been like, but it has felt like September around here for weeks (West Michigan). I was listening to a podcast last night and the man said that where he lives (near the Pacific Ocean in Washington) the weather has been like late September and it definitely feels like it has turned toward winter. I wouldn’t say that we’ve turned toward winter, but we have had so many nights in the 50s in July and August that I lost count. This is very unusual for us. I know because I live for lows like that in the summer. I don’t know if it’s related to the Grand Solar Minimum, but fall definitely feels early just as spring has been late the past few years.

This Week’s Artwork

Today I’m featuring a new artist. Robert Reid painted The Yellow Flower aka The Artist’s Wife in the Garden in 1908.

Robert Lewis Reid (1862 – 1929) was an American Impressionist painter and muralist. His work tended to be very decorative, much of it centered on depiction of young women set among flowers. He later became known for his murals and designs in stained glass.

David Feeding The Bunnies

I think I mentioned before that David has struck up a friendship with the bunnies. It started with one in particular several months ago. This bunny wasn’t afraid of him and would come over when David went out to fill the feeders. David named him Buddy. Here’s some pictures (taken from the house through glass – about 50 feet away).

The group has grown and now there are at least four or five who will come over when David takes the food out. Sometimes they come right over as soon as they hear him and sometimes he has to squat down for a few minutes before they come over.

At times the bunnies will get close enough he could reach out and touch them if he tried. There is a younger bunny from this year who isn’t afraid of David at all.

Homeschooling

Caroline and I had a good week. We’re into our Jane Austen unit for her English Literature credit. We’re currently reading through the Psalms out loud and I’m helping her learn to use the NIV Study Bible I wrote about in the past. I ordered a Bible Study about angels this week that should arrive in time for next week. We’re in the Gothic period now in her Art History.

We are making our way through her learning in our own time and in our own way. Thank God for the freedom to homeschool as we see fit.

Homemaking

I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary this week. I have some partially completed tasks that I hope to get taken care of by Saturday evening because I am tired of looking at them!

Still no progress on the kitchen cupboards. I will eventually get to them, but I’m not putting myself under pressure right now.

Work

A new version of the forum software I use was released a number of weeks ago. It was a significant change so David waited to install it when he had ample time in case we had any problems with it. Thankfully we had only a few minor issues that we’ve fixed. It looks very different, but I like it.

I’ve opened the forum to new registrations since the new version includes a mechanism for approving new members before they can do anything. I am cautiously optimistic this will eliminate the spam problem that made me close it down to new registrations a number of months ago. So if you would like to create an account, you can do that by using the link in the forum sidebar. If I start having problems with spam, I’ll shut it off again. Hopefully not!

That said, I did add quite a bit of content in there this week.

I spent more time on Truth Social and Gab this week, entering into conversations and sharing. My post Occam’s Mirror and Surrounded By False Reality was shared on both platforms by larger accounts which was fun. Maybe some of you reading this just discovered my website this week because of that! If that’s you, welcome!

Other than that, I really didn’t do too much work. Many bloggers take August off and perhaps I’ve felt the need for that a bit this year. I’ve focused on enjoying homeschooling and doing other things.
