Let Autumn Begin!

We’re almost there! Just a few more hours and it will be September. It might not be the official start of fall, but in my mind it is. The autumn decorations will come out tomorrow and I can begin to enjoy my favorite time of year from September 1 though January 25 (our wedding anniversary).

I decided in order to free myself to truly enjoy the season, I was going to make a few changes.

Have you noticed how often I say at the beginning of my Friday Simple Living This Week posts something like, “I don’t know where this week went?” That’s because I feel like that almost every week. I don’t know where the spring went. I don’t know where the summer went. Truly. I’m astonished that summer is basically over.

I’m determined I’m not going to experience that with September, October, November, December, and January – as much as it is within my control.

So, to that end, I’ve archived and hidden the political-related forums (only Current Events & Finding The Truth and Sallie’s Stack – the rest are still there). Those two still exist with all the content, but they are not available. My plan is to keep them archived until at least the first of the year. If I want to pull them back out at that point, I can simply flip them on. I’m honestly thinking it won’t be necessary. I think the big picture of whatever is developing will be very obvious long before that. (So maybe I will turn them back on if I am right about some things so I can be excited about being right. I am curious to see how close I got and what I missed. It’s been like a game or puzzle the past few years and I am interested in finding out how close I got. LOL!)

I seriously considered unpublishing/archiving all of the current events, political, podcast, and newsy posts on the blog. I may still do it, but I’m not doing it tonight. It would be a lot of work and would mean a LOT of broken links on my website. So, for now, they are still there. I also think many of the posts and podcasts in the Rebuilding America/News category may be of use to people who are still waking up in the coming weeks. I don’t rule out the possibility of recording a Sallie’s Rebuilding America podcast during the coming months, but it’s not going to be part of my plans.

I know this probably seems really drastic to some of you, but it’s what I have to do in order to get a true break from it and enjoy the autumn.

There’s no middle ground with me when it comes to some things. As I explained to a friend in an email, I’m either absorbing and processing information all day to share it with others or I have to just walk away from doing it. I wish I could happily exist somewhere in the middle, but my mind doesn’t work that way. I can read to keep myself informed, turn it off, and go about my day without thinking about it much. But if I’m reading/watching and know I am going to share it with others, it’s totally different how my mind works with the information. It’s just the way it is.

So I’m looking forward to writing about different things. Last night I added some fun links in the forum under the non-political topics. I’ll continue to do that as I come across things worth sharing. And I’m looking forward to getting back to writing about homeschooling, simple living, etc. without having the other stuff nagging at me in the back of my mind.

And autumn!
