Thinking About Preparedness in 2026 and Beyond

I considered writing about preparedness today, but wasn’t sure. An hour later I read something that shocked me. Not much shocks me any longer, but this truly did. I knew I had my answer about addressing preparedness today.

I’ve made the deliberate choice to stay away from intense topics on this website. But I decided that if I wanted to write something important about home and family preparedness behind the member paywall, I would give myself that option. You all are supporting my work with your money and if I think something is important, I want to tell you.

I say all this so if you don’t want to read about a preparedness-related topic, you can stop reading now.

Annabel from The Bluebirds are Nesting lives in Australia. She shared this in today’s blog post Feather Your Nest Friday, 24th April, 2026.

I listened to a speech from the head of the EU.  It was fascinating.  She said fuel of all kinds will probably need rationing and also food.  She said everyone would need to eat less. I will refrain from giving my opinion on these unelected people with power over so many.   Then she said this would include phones.

Phones.

What? How?  Why?

During covid in our neighbour state Victoria people were told by the government not to talk to their neighbours,  even over the fence.  And to dob in people seen talking to their neighbours what’s more.  This does not sound like it could possibly be true but it is.  Loneliness and isolation are two of the worst things for mental health and happiness.  Yet this happened.

The next day after hearing this about phones my English friend messaged me.  She had already been warned to expect fuel rationing and already told to expect food rationing.  Heating oil had already become unaffordable.  But now they were being warned that they could have PHONE rationing.

Even me… who feels like nothing would shock me anymore…  well,  I was shocked.  I asked her where she had seen this and what was the reason given?

It had been on Great Britain news and the reason given is that the phone business uses a lot of electricity.  So there you go.

I share this because the whole world is affected.  I heard Cambodia and the Philippines have terrible fuel problems.  Many countries are. I am sure many reading are feeling the pinch with food rices, fuel prices and even travel restrictions.  We just can’t be well prepared if we have no clue.

I had already heard the idea of food rationing was being floated in the EU and UK.

I was already aware that people suspect fuel lockdowns are coming there as well.

But phone rationing?

Phones?

Phones.

That has nothing to do with fuel.

The fuel shortage is an excuse. The spreading unrest over migration is the real reason. Freedom movements are gaining in the EU and UK. That can’t be allowed. Cutting off people’s phones “for the good of everyone due to the fuel shortages” is the convenient pretext.

Notice they aren’t concerned about meeting the needs of their citizens. They aren’t concerned about sourcing more food. They aren’t concerned with sourcing more fuel. They aren’t considering removing the massive illegal and legal drain on their national coffers and supplies.

They are focused on control and staying in power. If they truly cared about their citizens, they would be moving heaven and earth to do whatever needs to be done.

They are not.

They are using the situation as a way to advance their agenda and power.

So what does that mean for us and preparedness in 2026?

I can only speak to this as an American.

Whatever you think of what is happening in the Middle East at the moment, one thing is clear. President Trump knew this was coming. Long before our current events, Trump was urgently ramping up our energy independence. Those choices were methodical and planned well in advance. He warned the German UN delegation years ago about their failing energy agenda and they openly laughed at him. Trump knew.

I don’t fear fuel lockdowns or even shortages here. The only real preparedness concern I have related to fuel is sabotage of our infrastructure (which has always been one of my main concerns over the past 25 years).

There is no way we will have our phone usage restricted. Not under a Trump administration.

Food could be an issue and it’s difficult to get straight answers.

However, it is difficult to miss how committed the evil is to further capturing the EU and UK. And, if Trump fails, the evil agenda will come roaring back to life here. His globalist opponents on both the Left and the Right are biding their time.

So what does that mean in my home? What does this mean in your home?

I believe it is always prudent to be thinking ahead. The Bible has much to say about the prudent which I wrote about here: Bible Verses About the Prudent. It might be worth spending some time reading through those and seeing if God prompts you in any specific way.

I always think it’s helpful to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I don’t spend my days in doom and obsessed with planning for the worst. But, if the worst did happen this summer or next year or in a few years, what would you want to have done?

The enemies of our country and our culture would love to bring us down. It’s naive to think they won’t do their best to make our life difficult. I think we should take that threat seriously. Consider what you think those threats could be and how it would impact you. I have many posts in my preparedness category you could start going through afresh.

If you would like, we could go into more details in another post. Leave a comment and let me know.

One would hope that something drastic doesn’t happen in the way of sabotage but given what we know now about the SPLC being indicted by a grand jury regarding Charlottesville 2017 and other instances, you definitely see how they create these “events” to cause issues. Given that we saw how certain state governments did all they could to control things rather than help people flourish as best as possible under COVID, you see the need to create control rather than help people. “Two weeks to stop the curve” never happened and was not really the plan. Unfortunately a number of those people are still in power in these places.

And those same people have “learned” from their “mistakes” the last time around. Imagine the even more evil ideas they have developed since then.

      Like rationing phones.

I mean, I’m still trying to wrap my brain around that.

In light of Thursday’s relatively large earthquake exactly in the New Madrid area, it is worth taking a look at this video post I did in 2019. I hadn’t heard about this when I wrote this newest preparedness post.

Here is a local weatherman discussing the earthquake. He mentions the New Madrid earthquakes and the very real threat they are in the region.
