Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Ours was quiet and full. I don’t think the three of us could ever run out of things to do. Run out of energy? Yes. But run out of ideas? No.
We enjoyed games of Spot It! and Trivial Pursuit Family Edition. I still have my original Trivial Pursuit (1986) and would like to pull it out. I think the newer version is, how shall I say it? Not nearly as rigorous in terms of the quality of knowledge expected? It could be my faulty memory, but the adult questions in this game seem rather superficial. In any case, we had fun playing together.
Simple Living
We’ve been in use it up, wear it out mode during the lockdown when it comes to clothes. Since we’re not going anywhere much at all and not seeing many people, we’re wearing what we have and not replacing much. It has helped that Caroline stopped growing out of her clothes every six months. So I choose to see this as a silver lining in a difficult time.
Homemaking
One of my goals for this week is to go through the pantry and focus on eating things up either because of the date or because they are open and I’d like to clear some things out. We date everything in the pantry so we tend not to overlook what is there. (It still happens, but not often.) We have some food that needs to be eaten so it will be moved to the front of the line this week.
Homeschooling
We’re plugging away as best we can. The winter doldrums arrive even in the best of years and this one is no different. I do my best to determine what will work each day and go with it.
Over the weekend I rearranged things on the large table in my office we use for schoolwork. I removed a few things and reworked the space. I like it much better now.
Books
Each Christmas a particular client sends us a different book from Lamplighter. I’ve been working my way through them and am currently in the volume The Forgotten Christmas Dinner by Grace Richmond. (I’ve shared her books before in my 100+ Free Old-Fashioned Cozy Books for Kindle). There is a second story in it called “The Birds’ Christmas Carol.” I actually read the second story first and am going back to read the first. If you have never seen a Lamplighter book in person, they are gorgeous. The craftsmanship is excellent.
I’ve found lately that I prefer short little stories and books. I appreciate the feeling of accomplishment that comes with finishing something, a feeling that I experience less often than I would like at the present time. Even finishing short books encourages me.
Shop at Sullivan (Anne of Green Gables & Road to Avonlea)
Did you know there is a Shop at Sullivan with many different Anne of Green Gables and Road to Avonlea related items? There is and I was so excited to discover it! I have an affiliate account there now so I wanted to make you aware of it. I can even offer you a code for 10% off: SALLIEBORRINK.
We already own the Anne of Green Gables movies, but don’t own the Road to Avonlea series. Did anyone else enjoy watching it back in the day? They are sweet stories and I think that is one I would like to save my pennies for and get for our family.
There is so much there. If you love these stories, you will want to check out the Shop at Sullivan.
Emergency Heat Video
Have you ever seen these little emergency light ideas? This was new to me so I thought I would share it.
What is going on in your home this week? I hope you’ll leave a comment and share!
