I hope your July has been an enjoyable one so far. It’s hard to believe we are half way through the month. The past two weeks have simply flown by.
We never had bluebirds around until our neighbors put nesting boxes in their yard. Over the past two years we’ve seen them more frequently. This week a male has started perching on the ball of the flag pole on the back deck. It makes me so happy to see a bluebird sitting there with the Stars and Stripes fluttering in the breeze.
In the homemaking realm, I spent time tidying up some parts of the basement. David and I did a big rearrangement of the pantry to make things more logical and make room for some extra things we purchased. He also wiped down everything (since I’m allergic to dust). So it’s all freshly organized and tidy. Few things in life make me as happy as seeing things freshly organized. LOL! That’s how I am.

With no planning ahead, I abruptly joined the No Poo ranks. If you don’t know the terms, it’s for people who go commercial shampoo free. Why? Because this showed up in my Gab feed:

Normally I don’t pay a lot of attention to stuff like that because I only have so much mental space to track down every issue. HOWEVER. See that green mint shampoo in the picture? That’s what I use. I use it because it is one of the only shampoos I found with a scent that didn’t make me sick. Guess what I have struggled with a LOT in the recent years? Hair loss. Very bad hair loss. Really very bad hair loss. The day I saw that come through and verified there was indeed a lawsuit, I stopped using it.
So I went totally no poo (water only) and it’s been a week. My hair feels better already. There is no smell. And, of course, I am closely monitoring my scalp to see if there is any kind of reversal in my hair loss. It makes me sick to think of what we trust these companies with regarding our health.
Naturally Caroline doesn’t want to use it now either. Does anyone know of a good shampoo line that isn’t drowning in scent and won’t kill my daughter prematurely or make her beautiful hair fall out? If so, please leave a comment. (Baking soda and vinegar would be a totally no go with her so I’ll just nix that suggestion before someone makes it.)
What is going on in your home right now? I hope you’ll leave a comment and share!
