This free “Autumn Fires” Copywork for homeschoolers combines a classic lovely poem about autumn with handwriting practice. The packet includes both print and cursive worksheets.

“Autumn Fires” by Robert Louis Stevenson is a poem with vivid imagery your children will be able to “see” as they read it and do their copywork.

“Autumn Fires” by Robert Louis Stevenson

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

I thought the poem would make a lovely copywork printable for a poetry week as well as a great addition to my extensive copywork product collection in my shop.

This copywork set includes both print and cursive. There are three line options so you can use whichever ones works in your situation.

You can open a preview right here to see them up close.

Fantastic I had forgotten about copy work and as we have just been told that my son will be learning cursive writing at school this year this would be a great printable for him to do to get used it to.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
