No More Insulin!

At least for now…

Yesterday I got to take a bonus trip to the doctor’s because my GD numbers have been doing weird things, I had not felt well at all in about four days, and then Sunday night/Monday morning I woke up shaking in the middle of the night. I checked my numbers and I hadn’t bottomed out so I wasn’t sure what was going on.

We called the doctor (first middle of the night call) and he isn’t sure what caused it. He had me stop my insulin so yesterday was my first insulin-free day in almost two months. I felt progressively better throughout the day and I felt much better when I woke up this morning. I also had some other weird things going on and they have also stopped in the past 24 hours. So I have to keep checking my numbers four times a day, but no insulin unless the numbers start going up again to unacceptable levels.

I am very, very thankful.

As part of our bonus trip to the doctor I had an NST and an ultrasound. Everything looks good – amniotic fluid levels, placenta, etc. all checked out fine. Peanut is a happy baby with a strong little ticker. I have my regular visit later in the week and that’s when we’ll get an updated measurement to see what she currently weighs and how long she is.

Since we were in that part of town and I was feeling pretty good after the appointment, we went ahead and finished up buying the necessities for Peanut. So most of my day today will be spent doing laundry and getting things arranged in her room. Our goal was to have her room and stuff ready to go by Labor Day and it seems like we will accomplish that goal. Once that is done I will actually be able to think about something else in the few weeks that we have left before she comes – like maybe a non-pregnancy post once in a while! 🙂
