Hues and Cues Game

I purchased this Hues and Cues game for David a few Christmases ago. We tried it at that time, but for whatever reason we just didn’t connect with it. We got it out again over Christmas this year at Caroline’s suggestion and really enjoyed it.

There is definitely strategy to it both in terms of describing the target square you want others to find AND being able to interpret the clues people are giving in their descriptions.

If you are playing it as a family with a shared culture and inside language, you will have a lot of cues available to draw on that wouldn’t work with people outside of your family circle. (“Grandma’s favorite color!”) That’s not to say you can’t play it with people you don’t know well. You can. But the cues will be different without that shared family culture to draw on.

So we enjoy the game and definitely recommend it. It’s great for needing to draw on your vocabulary and language skills. It’s perfect for children to practice precise communication skills.

I hope you try it out and enjoy it!
