Happy Monday! Those of you further south are probably already thinking about spring arriving in the next few weeks. I sold one of my Spring Literacy and Math Packs yesterday and thought, “Already? We just got our first real dumping of snow!” But then I remembered I’ve seen pictures of pansies on blogs written in the south during February and that’s not far away.
In any case, whether you are planning your spring cleaning or are settled in for three more months of winter, let’s set a couple of goals this week to bring peace to our home and loved ones. If you are new to my site, you can find lots of inspiration in it as well in A Quiet Simple Life Planner and Guidebook.
Over the weekend, I finished a goal from week nine. I completed my linen closet clean out and it looks wonderful. So here are my goals for this week.
Goal 1 – Finish washing up all of the old sheets and research how I would like to repurpose them. I’ve found all sorts of good ideas in addition to wanting to make a rag rug. I don’t plan on starting anything this week other than washing and researching. I found so many good ideas I might put them into a post at some point.
Goal 2 – Continue cleaning out my clothes and shoes, washing things up and organizing. I made good progress last week.
Goal 3 – Continue organizing and systematizing our digital clip art, papers, borders, stock photos, fonts, etc. David and I never developed a good system for this over the fifteen plus years we’ve been working together on websites and products. He’s downloaded much of it since he does the actual design work. At the same time, I have things on my computer that he doesn’t have. And he’s downloaded things that I have completely forgotten about. I started working on this in November and then Thanksgiving, Caroline sick, Sallie sick, Christmas, etc. happened so I never got back to it. I’m going to keep going this week. I’m organizing all of it and then we will have it in one shared location where we can easily find and share things. If I’m going to meet Goal 17 in 2020 and build on that new skill, then we need to get this done.
So that’s what I hope to tackle this week. What do you have planned? Goals can be tiny or big or in-between – whatever works for your week and life situation. Leave a comment and then come back on Friday to tell us how it went!

This week I’m working on cleaning computer and TV screens, and a few light fixtures, and also tackling our board game shelf.
Hi Peggy,
Those sound like tasks a lot of us can probably relate to!
I hope it is going well this week!
Sallie
I like that you have started to link back to the Monday post on Friday.
Hmmm…. goals for this week:
1. Finish cleaning the closet in our school/sewing room.
2. Start planning how to reorganize the pantry (such a horrible mess)
3. Start putting together my new Bible plans for Genesis (I’ve got PLANS).
Hi Ticia,
Thank you for mentioning the linking back. I will try to remember to do that each Friday.
Is you new Genesis plan a Bible curriculum/study for homeschoolers?
Sallie
That’s part of it. Currently on my site I have storybooks with accompanying questions for different age groups (preschool/early elementary, upper elementary, and then junior high/high school).
I’m working on two things:
1. expanding what is currently there, so a church could take that and print off the page and say, “Just follow the directions,” and the volunteer won’t have to figure it out.
2. put together a more in-depth Bible study for middle school and older based off what I started with.
I hope you accomplished more on your goals this week than I did. I confess part of the problem is I got distracted by, um, current events. We also redesigned this website which took some time but was well worth it.
So I don’t feel badly that I did less than stellar on my three weekly goals. I’ll keep going on them over the weekend and carry them to next week if I want to do so. Sometimes life calls for adjustment and re-prioritizing.
On the plus side, we had a good week of homeschooling. I’m thankful for that! That’s far more important than the goals listed below.
Goal 1 – Finish washing up all of the old sheets and research how I would like to repurpose them. ZILCH. I got nothing done with this.
Goal 2 – Continue cleaning out my clothes and shoes, washing things up and organizing. A LITTLE PROGRESS.
Goal 3 – Continue organizing and systematizing our digital clip art, papers, borders, stock photos, fonts, etc. ZERO PROGRESS. I do plan on working on this a bit this afternoon since it’s a rather mindless job and I’m tired at the end of the week.’=
So that was my week!
1. Finish organizing craft room closet- nothing, I’m not even sure why, this week has just felt filled
2. figure out organization of pantry- nope
3. Genesis plans- I made progress, I ordered supplies for many of the first steps of making sensory bins and other ideas like that, and I’ve got a rough idea of projects I want to create for the Creation story, I need to write it out, and all of that. But first I want to get my older kids Bible study all finished up and published.
Well, next week is a new week to try again!
I got my goals–cleaning computer and TV screens, cleaning light fixtures, and dealing with the board games–done very early in the week, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have gotten them done.
I’m trying to take note of how long some of these goals actually take, often they are less than fifteen minutes, so they won’t seem so daunting in the future.
A few weeks ago we took care of something that has bugged me for YEARS. It literally took David five minutes to fix it. Why we put it off I have no idea. It’s crazy what we live with because we don’t realize how quick it really is to take care of it.
