I suspect watching what happened with Hurricane Sandy was a big wake-up call for many people. For the life of me, I cannot understand why people didn’t make even the most basic preparations for that storm when they saw it coming two weeks out.

I am just young enough that I “missed out” on learning to read using Dick and Jane books. I know many people who are slightly older than me remember them fondly. In fact, I’m sure seeing some of these below will bring a lot of memories rushing back for some!

Last night as I was about to go to bed, I realized I had a package of boneless chicken breasts that was dated that day. I decided to just quickly clean them and throw them in the crockpot overnight to make shredded chicken. I will use the shredded chicken in quesadillas, enchiladas, tortilla soup, etc.
