You might have seen this diagram of Bill Gothard’s umbrella of protection floating around the internet or Facebook. It is a visual that summarizes Gothard’s teachings on the hierarchy in the church and home. According to him, living under God’s umbrella assures protection.
Karen alerted me on Facebook to an interesting discussion taking place on a few different blogs and asked what I thought. As I was reading through all the relevant articles, I decided to just start jotting down some thoughts here as I was going.
History has always been one of my favorite subjects. I especially enjoy reading or listening to firsthand accounts of historical events from people who were there. It is so much more powerful than learning about it second-hand. I also think it is a much more effective way to teach.
We’ve been blessed with a cool spring that is only very slowly moving toward anything resembling warmer weather. I don’t mind because it affords us more time to enjoy the blessings of cooler weather – warm meals, the fireplace, and general coziness.
