Our Homeschooling Story in “The Epoch Times”

In late March, I was contacted by The Epoch Times regarding our family’s homeschooling experience. They were interested in writing a story about the fact that I am a former teacher who is now homeschooling her gifted daughter. To be honest, The Epoch Times is probably one of the only media companies I would even consider giving an interview to. I’m familiar with their work and we are currently subscribers. I believed they would write an honest and positive story without trying to promote some hidden agenda.

After lots of prayer and discussing it with a few people, I agreed. They sent me a lengthy list of questions and I submitted my answers and photos.

And then today is this!

Former School Teacher Turns to Homeschooling Her Gifted Child—Shares Her Unique Experience

My newsletter subscribers already knew my secret as I told them a few weeks ago about the opportunity. But I didn’t say anything publicly until it happened.

I’m pleased with the article. (And relieved. I’m not going to lie.) I think it is a very nice, concise summary of our family’s journey.

I hope it will bless the people who read our story and perhaps connect me with other parents of gifted/2e children who need encouragement in their journey with their child.

I hope you enjoy it!

You’re famous! 🙂 That’s a lovely article. I think it is a good summary of what you have here on your blog. I hope it helps connect others to you and your website to learn more.

A very nice article, with especially nice pictures, and your point about God being an integral part of every subject is something I needed to be reminded about–thank you!

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to thoughtfully examine all of life and think for yourself.
