Happy Anniversary To Me (and David!)

If you’ve wondered why there are little wedding rings floating down the page, it is because today is our ninth wedding anniversary. Nine years ago today I became David’s wife and I am thankful for it every single day.

I’ve written a little before about my single days. I don’t take marriage for granted. I feel incredibly blessed to be in a happy marriage with my best friend. Especially in this day and age, I know this is not always the case whether the people involved are Christians or not. I do not know why God in His extreme grace has chosen to bless me in this manner, but my heart is filled with gratitude that He has.

It is humbling to realize that everything good we have is from God’s hand. We can’t take credit for our marriage. If God had left it up to us, we probably would have both “settled” for someone else long before we ever met each other. But God kept saying “no” to anything less than His best for us. How thankful we are that in our Heavenly Father’s omnipotence and omniscience He said “no” several times so He could say a resounding “YES” to that which was the best for us.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21

Sallie…congrats *a little late* on the anniversary!!

And your Michigan page is great! I’ve always wanted to see that part of the country…it’s just not easy to do from Arizona. lol

We are house shopping this weekend and it’s discouraging so far, but I know God has something here for us.

It’s now 2025. I just saw this in the archives. Given the timestamps on the comments, I wrote this in the morning.

Later that day I finally had a positive pregnancy test that led to Caroline.

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.
