These are notes I recorded in my Bible related to Hebrews 11. A few of them are dated and none have a written attribution. All quotes KJV.
General notes in margins

- Faith is our response to the knowledge of the character of God.
- Faith does not sacrifice the permanent for the immediate. 6/00
- True faith impacts our mind, emotions, and will
Verse 1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
- idea of title deed, confirmation
Verse 7 – “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
- warned = idea of being instructed by God
Verse 8 – “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
- Abraham didn’t know where he was going, but he knew who he was following and that made all the difference. 5/7/00
Verses 13-16 – “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”
- Faith involves both trust and time. We must be willing to wait for God’s very best.
Verse 24-26 – “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.”
- refused = disowned, rejected, sense of no going back
- Moses had his priorities in place (vs 26)
