I decided to try going with no sidebar on both of my websites. Because my posts are often full of images, products, etc. I thought it might make for a more pleasant reading experience. I moved some of the sidebar content to the footer, greatly expanded the menu at the top (still working on it), and removed some items altogether.
Part of me likes the simple and “uninterrupted” look of no sidebar on the desktop. The other part of me feels like no sidebar makes the website less cozy and interesting.
If you primarily visit my website on desktop (which is a lot of you), do you have a preference? I’d be curious to hear what readers think in the comments. I’m honestly not sure which one you will prefer. I’m not sure which one I prefer.

Thanks for the feedback. There is a link in the menu to a Comments page where they all go. I created that a month or two ago. You will probably like that!
I see both sides just like you do. It’s nice to not be distracted, but I also feel like the sidebar can hold a lot of helpful information.

I love the no sidebar, so simple and tidy. It is easier to focus on the content rather than glancing at the sidebar and clicking to another page. I use my desktop most of the time for visiting blogs. I also feel that having a sidebar gives a touch of cosiness, but we can always scroll down to feel that cosiness and to ‘click’ away. Enjoy your week.

Thank you for the comment! I feel the same way. I like the simplicity of the no-sidebar, but I also think the sidebar makes it cozy. Someone else said in an email that the sidebars show off more of my personality and what I have to offer. I thought that was interesting as well.
