Enjoying The Blessings In My Life

I haven’t blogged much lately and partly that is because I’ve simply been focused on enjoying my life and practicing what I preach here about living a life of peace, understanding, joy, and beauty. I’ve been spending more time with David and Caroline. I’ve been doing organizing projects around the house.

Lots of little things that make me happy.

A New Desk for Me!

Last week I bought a new desk and it was delivered on Monday. I AM IN HEAVEN.

It’s a larger L-shaped desk and I have so much surface area it’s absolutely amazing. I can push my laptop on its stand to the corner of the L and have a large writing area in front of me where I can spread out books, paperwork, research, homeschool planning, etc. I think my productivity this week increased 75-100% because I have space to spread out. (I’m not exaggerating.)

This is such an answer to prayer and something I’ve wanted for a couple of years. I was thankful to find a wonderful desk on sale at Office Depot, I had a 30% off coupon to put on top of the sale price, and I had a sizable Christmas gift I could put toward it.

I think I’ve said, “I have a new desk!” about fifty times this week. Caroline thinks it’s funny, but I am really that thankful.

Editable Homeschool Planners

David and I have been working on the Editable Homeschool Planners. The original four designs are done, but we are adding at least one more new color design this year. The new color scheme is SO PRETTY! We might do one or two more, but it depends on other pressing needs. The plan is to have them all available for purchase sometime next week. They would have been done this week, but I got wrapped up in something else.

Books To Read

I have two books on my to read pile that I haven’t gotten to yet.

The first is Cal Newport’s brand new Digital Minimalism. This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart so I’m looking forward to it as I celebrate my almost one year anniversary of quitting Facebook.

The second is research for writing about Gen X retirement planning. It is Zero Hour for Gen X: How the Last Adult Generation Can Save America from Millennials. I’ve been doing lots of Gen X reading and research as well as retirement research.

Now I need to take the time to get it all into posts.

So that’s what I’ve been up to. I hope you are having a good start to your March.

Enjoy your new desk. We have had a few Cardinals in our back yard. The other day there were three Blue Jays in the yard. We have been decorating the house for St. Patrick’s day. I want to finish painting our kitchen a soft yellow. I am reading “Ireland” “A Terrible Beauty”. Leon Uris is the author and his wife Jill took the photos. I will also start to read a book for Lent. I will start reading a book concerning St. Katherine Drexel. I am almost finished with a book about “Gone With The Wind”. It tells about the casting and behind the scenes and the production of the movie. Enjoy the week end. I always enjoy your posts.

      Hi Marilyn,

That “Gone with the Wind” book sounds interesting. Such a fascinating movie in so many ways.

I was watching some older YouTube videos about the islands around Ireland. This series was really interesting.

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
