Here are two videos that take a look at what is going on in Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ).
And lest anyone think I’m picking on Cru, I recently unsubscribed from virtually everything related to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I don’t even recognize the organization I was on staff with in the 90s any longer. I told the Area Directors exactly why I was unsubscribing.
The faithful remnants that remain in IVCF and Cru need to wake up or both will cease to be anything related to the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ in just a few more years.
I thought this comment under the second video was sad.
Thanks John for doing this. Deeply sad that you have to, but without this documentation, people won’t believe how bad things have become. I live in a average sized midwestern city with a large state college. It has a big Cru presence. My wife and I actively minister to college students and I could share some midboggling stories of encounters with Cru over the years. I don’t want anyone to think the speakers you showed at Cru19 or these examples of the staff are going against the tide of the larger ministry. There is a deep divide across the lay minister equivalent in Cru, but much of it is age related. Many, many of the ones I know would be right in line with the conference and they are way more savvy with technology and social media. The old timers have no idea how widespread this is around them. It’s become a self perpetuating system. We see lower quality students (theologically and critical thinking) being put in roles of student leader, who after graduation then “go on staff”. When you hear what happens at staff training, summer camps, Lenses, etc it’s not a stretch to say Cru won’t have any resemblance within 5 years to the Crusade For Christ it began as. When the grey hairs retire, it’s over. The only good news is their student populations have decreased so much in the last 5 years it’s not as impacting as it otherwise could be. Students get the same crap in their classes all day, so why go to a meeting at 7pm on Thur night to hear the same thing?

I saw the first video and was appalled….Hope to watch the second video when I have time. Isn’t Cru associated with Family Life? Or is that no longer true? I sure wish this information was addressed in the church of how it totally is against scripture and how we are to love others as Jesus did as Christians.
I just got an email from a local ministry here located near the downtown in our city that ministers to very low income families of many different races and those that need legal help as well. I was appalled that they quoted Robin Diangelo from her White Fragility book. It made me feel sick….hard to support when they appear to be moving that direction.
Listening to David Jeremiah as he helps me get my focus back to the Lord where it belongs…
