Happy Back-to-the-Routine Monday! I imagine this is the first week of regular living for most of us after the weeks of holiday upheaval. We took our Christmas decorations down on Saturday afternoon and evening so we could wake up on Sunday with that task already behind us. I was very thankful we did.
I spent my Sunday afternoon with the unexpected treat of watching my MSU Spartans demolish our rivals from Ann Arbor. We don’t have cable any longer so I haven’t been able to watch them play much at all this year and only listen to the games. Fortunately, they were the featured college basketball game on CBS and it was streamed on the CBS Sports website. So I watched the game on my laptop and cleaned out old recipes (one of my ongoing goals from Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, and Week 6). I made a lot of progress during the game so that was a nice bonus. The project isn’t done, but I threw out a lot and generally sorted what I was keeping as I worked.
Goals to Increase Peace in Our Homes
So what are some goals for this week that will increase the peace in our homes? (If you are new to my site, I encourage you to explore my A Quiet Simple Life Series. I explain all about peace, understanding, and joy in there.)
My goals this week are basically about getting back on track and eliminating “clutter” that has piled up during the holidays in the three main areas of my life – homeschooling, homemaking, and work.
Goal 1 – Get back in the groove with homeschooling after mostly taking the past few weeks off. I’ve ordered a new math program to try out with Caroline that should arrive sometime this week. I’ll write about that in a different post.
Goal 2 – Organize the rest of our tax information for our appointment later this week. That pretty much supersedes any special kind of homemaking project this week.
Goal 3 – Clean out my email, catch up on comments here (I’m a week behind – sorry!), and create my to do lists for the coming weeks.
What are your goals this week? I hope you will share them with us in the comments and come back on Friday to let us know how it went. Goals can be big or small – whatever works for you!

1. Finish sorting my fabric.
2. Get kids back on schedule for school.. The kids are still asleep, so today did not work.
3. Get social media scheduled for my blog for the month.

Hi Ticia,
We’re going through the “get back in the routine” thing this week as well with homeschooling. Caroline is willing and cooperative, but her brain is still coming back from the holiday fun. LOL!
It was a good reminder of why I decided to homeschool year round. You’ve probably seen this post, but I’m going to put a link here in case someone reads this comment who hasn’t.

Sarah
1) Clear papers off the desk (time to tackle the catastrophe that is our office space)
2) Put away Christmas decorations
3) Get back in a school/chore rhythm

Sarah,
Office papers. I hear you. I’ve come a long way on this one the past two years. I could never be all digital, but most all of the papers in the office now are here for a specific reason. My ultimate goal is drawers and file drawers only 2/3 full.

Kelly
1) Baking…cinnamon rolls for hubby and also make batch of chili
2) Organize Bunny Collection
3) Get back to my adult coloring (doing an amish quilts coloring book)

Kelly,
Cinnamon rolls and chili. YUM!
What kind of bunny collection do you have? Ceramic?

My bunny collection is the stuffed bunnies that have dresses and pinafores…they were popular in the 80s-90s. I just love them. I collect Bearly People too which are teddy bears in victorian dresses…..

I’m going to repeat my goals for last week. I know I didn’t do at least two of them.

I’ve had to repeat some of mine as well. Real life happens. Wishing you a better week this week!

We are in the bullseye for a significant storm with freezing rain, sleet, and snow that is supposed to be somewhere between significant and catastrophic. I don’t mind winter weather, but significant icing means power outages which I’m not a fan of.
So I’ve been in my pre-storm mode as I wrote about in “What I Do When a Storm Approaches (#22)”. We went to Meijer first thing this morning to do our grocery shopping before it gets busier as they day goes on. I’m working my way through the rest of the list this afternoon (after starting last evening).
Otherwise, I am looking at this week and asking myself – where did it go? It was packed. Well, packed for us. LOL! I’m ready to just sit down and do some writing and other creative work at my desk today and tomorrow.
So how did I do on my goals this week? Pretty well!
Goal 1 – Get back in the groove with homeschooling after mostly taking the past few weeks off. DONE
Goal 2 – Organize the rest of our tax information for our appointment later this week. DONE and meeting completed
Goal 3 – Clean out my email, catch up on comments here (I’m a week behind – sorry!), and create my to do lists for the coming weeks. PROGRESS. I have caught up with a lot of it, but still quite a bit to go today and tomorrow (if we have power).

Of the three goals…..
I got my social media mostly scheduled for the month, at least the stuff I schedule out ahead for a month at a time.
We kind of got started back to school, but it was thrown off by a cold or some kind of virus going through the family. Thankfully the plan was to have a slow week of school.
Then finish sorting was thrown off by my being sick. It’s 95% done. I need to move the baskets back upstairs, and then finish up there. Which I’ll probably do later today.
Good job on your goals.
