I would guess this is just the tip of the iceburg in terms of what lies ahead for congregations.

Yes, you read that right. $800+ A MONTH.
It was like the planets aligned this week for me. (If I believed in that kind of stuff, which I don’t.)
But still.
All I have to do is hope Obama wins.
I haven’t written much about the financial mess in the U.S., mostly because I’ve just been too focused on other things to take the time to write a coherent post. I could’t even begin to address everything that is going on.
With the national housing fiasco continuing to pick up steam, I thought this was especially interesting.
It is now considered ok to walk away from your home if you no longer think it is a good business deal.

Today we got our health insurance renewal rates. Because we have our own business, we purchase our own outrageously priced health insurance.
In order to keep the EXACT SAME COVERAGE for the next year (which already includes a hefty deductible and out-of-pocket charges, copays, partial prescription coverage, etc.) our monthly premium is going up 21%.
