Baby Showers and Scrapbooking

I have my first baby shower this week. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions regarding bringing a scrapbook page or pages with me as a part of the shower?

I remember a friend having a blank page at her bridal shower and all of the guests signed it. Has anyone seen any neat ideas for baby showers?

Thanks! 🙂

Yay enjoy the shower! We went to a shower this past Sun. at church where the lady brought her envelopes to her thank you cards, laid them on the tables with pens and everyone filled their own name and address in for her! I thought that was GENIOUS! I cant wait to see/hear what you get how exciting 🙂 xoxo melzie

One of the best ideas I’ve seen is that instead of just signing a guest book, the other moms wrote a note of encouragement. Either a scripture that has meant a lot to them as a mom, or their very best mom tip, or a blessing.

Yes! At my SIL’s shower, we opened up a bag of newborn diapers, and each guest wrote on the diaper (with a sharpie marker) a verse, or a word of encouragement, or a laugh, to help cheer the mother as she used them on her baby!

When I gave a shower for a friend, part of her gift from me was a new scrapbook for the baby. We gave each of the ladies small pieces of paper, to write a special note to the gal, words of encouragement, memories, things they learned, etc., and then I assembled it on a page or two. For my son’s graduation party, I put a guestlist on cardstock paper, with lines, and it had a racecar theme, so each line had something with lights, or something “carish”. I later put this in his scrapbook. The guests are certainly a treasured part of a shower, and a great idea to have it included as part of a scrapbook. Also I had another sheet in the scrapbook, of all the gifts that were received and from whom . . . another way to remember what was given.

you really don’t need to plan much. Just enjoy it! A roomful of women praying for and celebrating your new baby is all the entertainment you’ll need.

You might want to be thinking ahead about a gift for your hostess, though. Sometimes it’s nice to send flowers either before the event (so she can put them out) or just after, in addition to a thank you note later.

I went to a baby shower where the hostess took polaroids of each of the guests. These were put into a scrapbook and we each wrote words of encouragement to the new parents as well as our prayers for the new baby. I thought it was a really lovely idea and one that would be treasured by the child, too!

    Hi,

It is your job to enjoy the shower, not plan it! A tough assignment, I know!

Although if you want the guests to write on pages for your scrap book I would recommend that you simply ask the hosts.

At one bridal shower I was at the guests brought notes of encouragement, scripture, or words of wisdom written out for the bride, and paper was available for those who did not know to plan ahead, and the bride, a delightful scrap booking fiend, put them in after wards. It was fun and sweet.

But if you would like something like that, talk to the hostess and let her plan it. If you are like me, you will be too excited/nervous/pleasantly overwhelmed to worry about it.

Oh, but I do recommend putting a couple laundry baskets in your car to help haul stuff away. We put our two laundry baskets in the back of our car, and when it was time to pack up our wonderful loot it was so much easier to bring in the baskets and fill them up! You know you are going to get gifts and have to take it home, so help yourself out!

My sister recently attended a shower where someone brought a digital camera and the docking station to print the pictures out.

Everyone who attended was photographed and simple scrapbook pages were made right then.

And, each guest went home with a picture of themselves with the mommy-to-be.

Of course, it helps if you already HAVE that stuff, and, not so much if you don’t.

Hello! I am a new blogger and just discovered your blog. I have really enjoyed reading it and look forward to future entries. I am 35 almost 36 weeks pregnant with our first baby.
At one of my showers, the next one is Saturday, my mom put together something where everyone picked a book for the baby and dedicated it to her. Everyone wrote the baby a special note and I was able to put these precious notes in an album for her.

I’m sure whatever you do for your scrapbook, that it will be beautiful and that it will mean a lot to your little one. Enjoy your shower!

I’ve seen scrapbook pages set out for the guests to write their name, then guess the birthdate and birth weight of the baby. 🙂

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."
