Happy Monday evening! Today is Caroline’s birthday so I’ve been busy celebrating. We had a good visit with my parents who we haven’t seen since long before the coronavirus lockdowns. It was only a visit for the day, but it made all the difference in the world to do something “normal” on Caroline’s birthday.

Caroline is now 14. FOURTEEN. Seriously? When we moved to this house, she was four. Where have the past ten years gone?

I’ve mentioned a few times our foray into chemistry. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that Caroline has also come to really like the Marvel movies. She especially likes Iron Man. (This means nothing to me. I haven’t watched any of them although David has.) When she saw this hoodie on Amazon, she immediately put it on her birthday list. We bought it for her and it’s already been worn today (after immediately washing it). LOL! As long as she is happy, I’m happy.

So we had a good day of celebrating and now I’m trying to wrap up a whole bunch of loose ends before I go to bed. I want to wake up in the morning and get down to my day without lots of little things taking my attention. I only have two days left to complete my Income School’s Project 24 September Content Warrior Challenge so that will be my first goal the next few days.

This week I’m also going to revisit my 20 Goals for 2020 for the last three months of the year. I know some of them I cannot meet and have made peace with that. This year was full of twists I could not have predicted. But I’m going to choose a few that still seem achievable and focus on them. Something is better than nothing.

Caroline and I need to go through her clothes. We’ve bought her almost nothing in the past year. She was still wearing her winter clothes when the lockdown hit and we didn’t need to buy much of anything for the summer other than a few pairs of shorts since there were no activities to participate in. Now that she’s not growing as quickly as before, clothes last a bit longer. I’m very thankful for that. However, her wardrobe is long on t-shirts and casual pants and short on anything nice. So we need to figure out a few things to order for her.

Lastly, I have a number of appointments and service calls I need to schedule so I plan on working through that list this week.

It’s one of those weeks. Lots of loose ends, decisions, and problems to solve. Nothing earth-shattering, but all things that keep a household running smoothly and efficiently.

What do you have planned this week? I hope you will leave a comment and share.

Have a cozy week!

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
