Our Cozy Home No. 40

Happy Monday evening! I hope your week is off to a good start. I feel like I’ve been chasing my tail all day. We were up early so we could get a jump on the week, but all day I’ve felt like I could not quite get ahead of everything. So now here we are late in the day, sneaking this in.

We’ve started our third week of this year’s homeschooling. So far, so good. I’ll be sharing in a post what we’re using this year. (You can see past versions here under Our Homeschool Curriculum Choices.)

David finished painting the decks last week. We had lovely weather for August so he took advantage of it. There is no guarantee that we’ll get another stretch like that before winter so he jumped on it. Other than stacking wood and fall clean-up, we’ve completed the must-do outdoor projects for this year. That is a relief. Now we can move on to lots of little projects we have for inside.

It is odd to have nothing starting up for us this fall. It’s what the homebody in me dreams of (no outside commitments to deal with), but I would not have wished it in this way.

This week’s post is going to be short. I’m still reading books I’ve mentioned recently (see my Reading Tickler List) and haven’t started any new projects. I’m mostly working on my 2020 goals and things I’ve already shared.

What are you doing in your home right now? Do you have any last summer projects before we head into September and the mental start of autumn?

Things are starting to happen here, so I’m having to learn how to incorporate events back into my weekly schedule. Which is both exciting and kind of weird. I’m ready for it to happen.

I need to spend some time praying and figuring out my specific priorities right now because I’ve gotten into hyper distracted mode and flitting from idea to idea and not finishing anything really.

      Hi Ticia,

I feel like I’ve been in the same state of flitting from idea to idea the past few weeks. I wonder if part of it is having to do that mental reset after (at least for me) months of not having to put too much thought beyond the day to day.

Usually I’m really excited about September and getting out my fall decorations. This year I find myself feeling like I’m not ready at all. I think it’s from living in some weird twilight zone the past six months. We’ve lost all yearly rhythm.

      Sallie
