Happy Friday! This is the second time I’ve written this post. The first version was so lame and pathetic that Elon Musk would have fired me on the spot for publishing it. LOL!

In all seriousness, our country has been so infiltrated by the pathetic victim narrative that even I find myself tempted to think that way at times. I saved what I originally wrote for this post and titled that saved copy “LAME” to remind me of how pathetic it is to operate in that kind of mindset.

So count yourself fortunate that before I pushed “Publish” I clicked over to see if Twitter was still operating today. After all the uproar last night it surely must be collapsing as hundreds more employees quit because Elon Musk is running a business he bought like an actual business and getting rid of the dead weight. Much to the disappointment of the wokesters who think they can trash their new boss and keep their job, Twitter is still humming along and busier than ever (according to Musk). I’m not sure what I think of Elon Musk overall, but I’ve laughed out loud several times with the way he’s handled things so far.

You know, I consider myself mostly immune from the abject stupidity that has been unleashed on our society via this wokeness garbage. But every once in a while when I’m sick and legitimately weary in the midst of an extended period of difficulty, I can find myself tempted to think like a victim like everybody else.

How revolting to even think of becoming like that which you despise.

That said, even Elijah became tired and discouraged in 1 Kings. So it’s okay to admit that I’m tired and with good reason.

But may we all reject the revolting combination of being a victim and demanding entitlement that is the rot infesting our culture.

Family Life

Okay, so I am legitimately weary. We’re in the midst of an eight week stretch of off-and-on sickness and being stuck at home. As I mentioned last week, I apparently picked something up when I had the temerity to leave my home and vote. (I know. What was I thinking? Imagine! LOL!) Caroline got it next and then David came down with it. This has been a long eight week stretch for so many reasons. This is Caroline’s third sickness in eight weeks. She’s been a trooper this time, but we’re all weary of it.

Because we’ve been home together almost all the time the past two months, I’m mentally shot. I’ve had almost no introvert time alone with my thoughts and that’s just so bad for me. I know it might seem like I’ve abandoned my blog writing and newsletters, but it hasn’t been intentional. It’s simply been a function of life. What little brain power I’ve has been used for trying to keep some kind of homeschooling going with Caroline when neither one of us has been in top shape for literally two months.

In the midst of this, David’s work has really dropped off. So like many Americans, we’re feeling the steadily increasing squeeze of less work and higher prices. He’s working longer hours to find work and taking work that pays less than it should. But we soldier on because that is all we can do. Survive and advance is truly the name of the game in times like these.

I did spend some time cleaning out my office bookshelves this week. The job is only partially finished so I’m waiting for another burst of energy so I can keep going with the piles all over. I’m clearing out many books I know I will not reference again and represent a time of my life that is over.

I’ve watched a lot of Downton Abbey in the past week. I’ve gone through multiple seasons because I didn’t feel like doing much else.

Thankfully we’ve all slept well at night so that definitely helps.

We’re now in the midst of a multi-day lake-effect snowstorm. By the time it ends on Sunday we will probably have 18+ inches. That is a tremendous amount of snow for us during any snow event, let alone one in mid-November. I thought of the early snowstorm in The Long Winter this morning and hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. I like winter and snow, but would not wish a long winter of shoveling on David and Caroline.

So that’s a bit of our life this week. I want to get this posted now that I’ve written it twice. LOL!
