I did sit and watch Pride and Prejudice Sunday evening despite the fact that I own the DVD and have already seen it, um, many times. But I did some mending while I watching it and that’s how I justified it.
My first comment is regarding what I feel was a stupid move made by PBS. The promo piece included the phrase, “We all know how it ends” and they show, well, the ending. HELLO? Maybe not everyone watching knows how it ends! I feel sorry for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie and hasn’t read the book. Okay, maybe most people will figure out how it ends, but still. Did they really have to do that?
Rather than rambling on about what I like, I’ll mention a few brief things and let other folks leave comments. In no particular order:
The sharp humor
The music
The tension between Darcy and Elizabeth
The relationship between Mr. Bennett and Lizzy, especially when Mr. Bennett makes her “choose” between her parents regarding Mr. Collins
I’ll leave it at that. Anyone else want to jump in with your thoughts?
Elaine Mazzo
Colin Firth……is there anything else to say??? 🙂 🙂
I love the relationship between Lizzy and Jane.
Mr Collins. What a hoot!
