Around Our Home In February

My life this month is mostly centered around my work. Other than caring for my family, my work is where the bulk of my time goes. David and I are finishing up the Homeschool Planners that will be EDITABLE. They should be in my shop by Monday (February 6).

In Our Homeschool This Month

Last month I mentioned that we had more testing scheduled for Caroline. We have completed that and received the results. In my homeschool this month I will be trying to make mental adjustments and practical changes to our homeschooling based on what we learned. I’m in the process of writing a post about our experience so that’s all I will say at this point.

Places We’re Going and People We’re Seeing

Nowhere. Our February calendar is full of basically nothing and that makes us all happy.

My Favorite Thing This Month

February is a peaceful month with no birthdays, no holidays… Just deep winter. I guess that means my favorite thing about February is the fact that I can enjoy my life and family without all the outside demands that come with other times of the year. And fires in the fireplace.

What’s Working for Us

I’m not sure. LOL! I’m re-evaluating so many things right now.

Homeschool Questions and Thoughts I Have

How do I prepare for the long haul? If I count preschool, this is our seventh year of homeschooling. We have seven more to come. After reading Betsy’s homeschooling high school book that I reviewed and receiving the testing results, I’m trying to get a bigger picture of where we’re going and how that best translates into the day to day choices.

Did you see the new series of distraction-free handwriting printables I created? They are designed for learners who need pages with no distractions, no clip art, no squiggly borders, etc. So excited for how many children these will help!

A slow, peaceful month sounds wonderful. It sounds like the changes ahead are positive – I hope you are able to find some that work well for you. 🙂

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
