Our Cozy Home No. 18

Happy March! The sun is shining and I’m ready to jump into another week of creating a home filled with peace, understanding, joy, beauty, and faith for my family. I won’t do it perfectly, but I’ll do my best and that’s all any of us can do.

Related to homemaking, I updated all of my recipes on the site. They are filed under Sallie’s Favorite Comfort Food Recipes. I was never happy with the graphics we made for them so we redid them this weekend. I like them much better now. I also reworked the posts to make them easier to use. I posted Caroline’s Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Muffins over the weekend if you missed that.

So my goals for this week include the following.

Goal 1 – Set up mobile banking. I have resisted doing this, but we have quite a few clients who pay us by check via snail mail. I’d like the option to avoid going to banks any more than necessary in the coming weeks and months so this will be it. I’d rather have it set up and not use it then want it and scramble to get it done.

Goal 2 – Spend time on homemaking inspiration. I need to immerse myself in some positive and inspiring reading myself. I think I have enough blogs and websites to share to do a Cozy Blogs I’m Reading Part 2 as a follow-up to the popular post Cozy Blogs I’m Reading so I’ll probably combine this goal with writing a post to share.

Goal 3 – Spend some time doing more long-range homeschool planning.

On the blogging front, I have so many partially finished posts that I would like to complete and get up. I have two more products for my Distraction Free Handwriting collection I would like to get done (print and cursive sentences). And the Editable Homeschool Planners for this year. So I have a full slate of things to do around here!

That’s what I have going on. What do you have planned this week – big or small? Let us know in the comments and then come back on Friday to share how you did.

Have a great Monday!

My boys turn 15 on Wednesday!!!!!!

I’m just going to keep the same goals as last week, but tweak one slightly, since I did get it done.

    1. Get one shelf cleaned off.
    2. Make those stupid sensory bins/take home bags. I’ve got the stuff gathered up, the time I was going to spend on it, I instead spent watching TV with my husband, so it was the correct choice.
    3. Get started reorganizing/rearranging the school room. I’ve got a plan to start, just need to make forward progress now.

    Hi Ticia,

I hope you have a happy birthday celebration!

I’m thinking back when those of us with teenagers now were just starting out with blogging and iHN. We had little kids and looked up to the bloggers with teenagers who were years ahead of us on the path. Now we’re the ones with teenagers. Time. Weird.

I’m hoping the cleaning and organizing bug bites me again. He took a vacation the past couple of weeks. LOL!

Well, I didn’t accomplish any of my goals this week. Some things developed that meant I wanted/needed to pivot in another direction. That’s the beauty of homemaking and working from home. If something changes, you can adapt.

I didn’t send out a newsletter this week because I want to switch my main newsletter to going out to everyone on Sunday so I didn’t send one this week. Hopefully this will now get on track.

Hopefully I’ll also get back to posting. The past few weeks have been kind of weird and I’ve had my attention diverted quite a bit.

How did you do this week?

I had some spurts of accomplishment, and ended the week with low energy. But even then, I was able to do some picky little detail cleaning in the kitchen.

Also, I opened a couple of windows and aired the house for a while, and tackled some dusting and organizing in our school/project room, which has helped me to get unstuck on a couple of projects.

I’ve often found if I can just get myself moving doing something – anything – that it will get me unstuck as well.

It’s supposed to be around 60 degrees today so I plan on opening the windows and getting some fresh air flowing through here!

Springtime throws me because of all the wild weather changes, and I’ve spent so much of the past week or so with migraines, that I don’t accomplish anywhere near as much as I want to.

      Hi Ticia,

You have my sympathies. When I was younger, I never has a problem with weather fronts and such. But now I’m my own walking barometer. David and I both get head, neck, and stomach aches depending on how significant the weather change is.

I hope you feel better soon!
