A Tribute To Old-Fashioned Girls

I saw this over at Emma’s Charming the Birds from the Trees and wanted to share. It might be old news for some of you, but it was new to me. The music alone is worth the watch.

I recognized most of the movies.  A few I had to look up!

Enjoy!

Tat was lovely. 🙂 I recognized many of the films these clips were from — Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Anne of Green Gables, Wives and Daughters — but there were several that I didn’t recognize that looked interesting. Can anyone tell me what some of the others were?

The Importance of Being Ernest was the one with Reese Withersoon. Jane Eyre is there. I know the others, just having a brain freeze over the titles. Can anyone tell me what the music is? this was a wonderful respite to my stress filled day! Love it.

Yes, I recognized The Importance of Being Ernest, one we watched and honestly did not like at all. I can’t remember why, but I just thought – yuck. Someone said the music is from a movie called Dear Frankie. I believe at Emma’s site someone said that North and South and Lorna Doone were both in there as well.

I didn’t spot anything from NORTH AND SOUTH…that’s an old favorite so if anyone else noticed something from it please alert me where to look for it. 🙂

    Thanks for a great link.

Thanks for linking to my blog, Sallie!

When I posted this little video and asked about which movies were represented, one reader pointed me to the information that the creator of the movie shared. Here is what she wrote on YouTube:

“A mix of some of my favorite period drama characters (old fashioned girls) set to the main titles of Dear Frankie. No way could I fit them all, so many good characters out there, but here are a few of the best.

I do not claim any of the elements of this video (music, characters..etc..) to be mine. I merely put them together and hope you’ll enjoy!

    Movies that I took the pictures from;
    (In order of appearance)
    Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea
    The Importance of Being Ernest
    Emma (1996)
    Sense and Sensibility
Jane Eyre (1983 Timothy Dalton/Zelah Clarke)
    Lorna Doone
    Wives and Daughters
    North and South (2004)
And one picture from my Digital of my best friends and me at an old fashioned picnic. You won’t find that one on a screen-cap site, I’m afraid. ”

    HTH!

I’m just wondering why this post keeps showing up in bloglines several times a day for the last week? It’s like the publish button is stuck or something. 🙂
