Using “Wild Kratts” For Homeschooling

We happened across Wild Kratts a few months ago. We had a DVD of three Zaboomafoo episodes that Caroline received a few years ago with a magazine subscription. It was a bit above her at the time so I put it away. She pulled it out recently and I looked to see if I could order some more from the library. That was when we discovered Wild Kratts. (Remember that we don’t have cable so even basic things on PBS we often miss!)

To say these have been a huge hit would be a major understatement.

Caroline loves watching Wild Kratts and it’s amazing what she’s learning in the process. This is her kind of learning because it involves things that include:

  • imaginative
  • creative
  • animals
  • humor

She likes all of these DVDs, but by far her favorite is Creature Adventures. She also really likes Jungle Animals and Predator Power.

Wild Kratts is now also available for download, streaming, and other packages.

There is an entire Step Into Reading beginning reader series of Wild Kratts themed books.

PBS also has a highly interactive Wild Kratts website that includes videos, games, and a creaturepedia.

Wild Kratts is a great homeschooling and learning tool for your family. I’ve been amazed how often Caroline will say something or demonstrate she knows something and when I ask her where she learned it she says, “Wild Kratts.” So they look like just fun, but they are very educational – especially for kids like Caroline who need lots of visuals.

Highly recommended by our family!

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.
