Oh, I remember that thing. That’s the sun. Yes, the sun finally shone today for a few hours. Over the past 12 days we’ve only had 16% of the available sunshine. Poor Caroline doesn’t even realize that the world isn’t full of gray, overcast days. October weather is usually quite gorgeous in our neck of the woods, but not this year. It’s been cold and overcast most every day. This morning it was so beautiful out that as soon as we gave Caroline her feeding around 10:00, we loaded her up in the car, stopped at Starbucks for a couple of mochas, and spent an hour driving around the back roads in the east part of our county. We were desperate for some sunshine!
Only two more weeks and we can start taking Caroline out regularly. I have to admit that for someone who really likes to be at home, I am getting pretty antsy for getting back to church and such. If we could even go out for walks each day it would help, but that hasn’t been possible either. So we’re looking forward to the end of the first six weeks so we can be out and about a bit more.
Today I felt better than I’ve felt in literally months. I know the sunshine helped tremendously. I got quite a bit done around the house and felt a lot more like my normal self. I’m really thankful to be feeling significantly better.
Caroline continues to change right before our eyes. I can hardly believe she will be a month old already on Saturday! This is a picture of her having her tummy time this morning. She liked it so much she fell asleep!
Thankfully the crying at night has been fairly short-lived. She just did it a couple of nights and then stopped for a week. She did cry another night recently, but it didn’t last too long. So we’re hoping that it isn’t going to be a long-term development.
Caroline loves playing in her jungle floor gym. She is quite captivated by the stuffed toucan and gets really animated when looking at it and batting at it. She also really likes the white and pink bunny grandma brought on her last visit. We have it in the pack and play and Caroline will stare at it, bat at it, and talk to it for long periods of time. It is so fascinating to see the wheels turning behind her eyes and see her development happening right before our eyes. 🙂
I enjoyed the brief bit of sunshine on our end of the state as well. If it weren’t for the Tiger’s this would be the dullest October on record.
Caroline is beautiful and growing. I can tell a difference in the photos. Glad the crying has settled down a bit. Enjoy!

How beautiful she is! And so glad you are feeling good and Caroline is being a sweet baby. Good babies are such a blessing! I guess I should say that fussy babies are also a blessing….it’s just harder to see it! (My fussy baby was a blessing.)
She’s a real cutey! I remember those first months when there isn’t a thing you can do but wait out the crying. It’s nice to hear that you haven’t had much of that with your sweetheart.
Our dd was born in mid November and I remember laying her on a blanket under the tree and enjoying her watch all the colors and lights. It is such a joy to see a child being introduced to the beauties of the world for the first time.
Oh, I just love seeing these pictures of this true bundle of joy. I love the little pinky lips! What a precious child.
What a spectacular picture of Peanut! My little one will turn 1 in a few days and I cannot imagine where the year went. I can only remember that I spent everday with her and I will never regret that choice.
