Caroline and I decided yesterday to take a fall homeschool break this week. We did a soft start of our homeschooling in the summer. We’ve been back at homeschooling “full-time” for about eight weeks and we’re both dragging. I’m hopeful that taking a week off will help us push through to Thanksgiving and then Christmas. 

Our year is going well overall. (If you are a newer reader, this is Caroline’s first senior year. We made the decision to add a year to her high school which I wrote about here: Homeschooling a Fifth Year of High School.) I’m not going to take the time to write about what we’re doing this year in this post. I’d rather write a separate post about it.

That said, I need some time this week to do some homeschool planning. It’s time for a bit of a part-way-through-the-year taking stock of where we are and where we need to go. 

I also have many what I call “open tabs” around the house. Things that need to be taken care of and are only partially completed. I hope to finish up several of those things this week. None of them are huge projects. They simply need to be completed so I don’t have to look at them and I can remove them from my mind. 

I’m sorry things have been so quiet around here in recent months. I have so many ideas and such great plans. But there’s only so many hours in the day. 

Homeschooling my daughter during her high school years while there is an ongoing communist coup of my country wasn’t on my lifetime bingo card. And yet here we all are, doing the best we can. 

I have several partially written posts about a variety of topics. I hope to finish those up, one after another this week. 

We celebrated Caroline’s 18th birthday at the end of September and I haven’t even put up a post about it. Sigh. Yes, that’s kind of how things have been.
