We turn to God for help when our foundations are shaking only to learn that it is God shaking them.
Charles West

The secret of Christian quietness is not indifference, but the knowledge that God is my Father, He loves me, I shall never think of anything He will forget, and worry becomes an impossibility.
Oswald Chambers

God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.
Elisabeth Elliot

Even when we cannot see the why and wherefore of God’s dealings, we know that there is love in and behind them, and so we can rejoice always.
J. I. Packer

When God is about to do something great, he starts with a difficulty. When he is about to do something truly magnificent, he starts with an impossibility.
Armin Gesswein

It’s a good thing to have all the props pulled out from under us occasionally. It gives us some sense of what is rock under our feet, and what is sand.
Madeleine L’Engle

A firm faith in the universal providence of God is the solution of all earthly troubles.
B. B. Warfield

Christ is a substitute for everything, but nothing is a substitute for Christ.
H.A. Ironside

God takes us into deep waters, not to drown us but to cleanse us.
Author Unknown

Trials are not enemies of faith but are opportunities to prove God’s faithfulness.
Author Unknown

Christians ought not to be smothered in fear. There is a spiritual readiness, where we return to having the peace of God stand guard over our hearts and minds. What an incredible witness it is to a lost and fearful society when the Christian acts like a child of God, living under the loving sovereignty of the Heavenly Father. The Christian needs to walk in peace, so no matter what happens they will be able to bear witness to a watching world.
Henry Blackaby

Beautiful thoughts and pictures. The mountain picture, especially.

It made me think back to my visits to Switzerland when we lived in Germany. While you always know and appreciate that God made the world, you really think about it and about the majesty of it all when surrounded by beauty such as that. It was beautiful in both the winter and summer, a different way each season. (I never visited in spring or fall, it was probably beautiful then, too.)

Sunsets make me think about that a little bit, too, although not as much as the mountains of Switzerland. I’m suprised there aren’t more Christians there! Maybe they take it for granted having lived there their whole lives.
