In the Jon Harris video clip below, the context is more fallout from the public disgrace of another “prominent” Christian leader. In this case, it was Josh Buice of G3 Ministries. (I know. There have been so many lately that you have to be very specific with names.)
My post continues after the video.
In the midst of his legitimate concern regarding how these scandals impact that body of Christ, Jon says this.
The pulpit is a sacred place where you are connecting God with man, man with God. That is a sacred, sacred place.
Would someone please tell me where we find this in Scripture? Would someone who is a Bible-believing Christian tell me where we are told that a man standing in the midst of an ornate piece of wood connects God with man? Man with God?
The New Covenant provided in Jesus Christ did away with the need for priests, human mediators, and the sacrificial system. Jesus was the ultimate and final sacrifice.
We do not need temples built by human hands. We now have the Holy Spirit. God dwells in us.
Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16
We don’t need a pastor to connect God to us. We don’t need a pastor to connect us to God.
Jesus provided the best way.
What Jon is saying sounds like Roman Catholicism lite. It grieves me that someone like Jon is spreading this. He should know better.
If you’ve never thought about these issues, I recommend Pagan Christianity once again. Frank Viola covers this and much more.

We are the Church
God’s holy people.
We need no doors
Or fancy steeples.
For we are the Temple
Where He wishes to stay,
Which He bought with His blood
And He willingly paid.
So open your hearts
And let Jesus come in
And turn away
From all that is sin.
He’ll fill you with joy
His love and peace
And you as His Bride
He will lovingly keep.
Stay Blessable
