- Missing Workers
As always, feel free to leave a comment. I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of these topics.

Hi Sallie!
I’m a long-time blog reader of your blog and know you from when we both lived in GR. We should catch up some time!
I’m enjoying your Stack of Stuff (and other posts)! Here are some things I noticed just in the last week:
I tried going to the Dollar Tree in the middle of the day last week and it was closed. So I tried again on Saturday and it was still closed. No open days/hours were posted so I have no idea when they are even open. I tried a different Dollar Tree store and they have limited hours open. I tried donating some stuff to Goodwill and their donation area was blocked off. I asked the clerk inside who said they don’t have enough staff to take donations. They also have limited open hours. I went to a local sub shop to buy a sub sandwich and there was a sign on the door “Closed due to unforeseeable circumstances” Is it permanent? Temporary? It didn’t say. So there is definitely a lack of workers. Maybe they can’t afford the gas to get to work or their cars broke down and they can’t afford to get them fixed. Or they can work elsewhere for more money. With rent prices increasing, I don’t know how some people even make it. I’m afraid there’s going to be a homeless crisis coming.
Also I think there is a lack of product. My son works at Walmart as a stocker. He was working full time, but last month his hours were reduced to 2-3 days a week. There just isn’t enough stock to put on shelves.

Barb!!!
How good to see you in the comments. Are you still in the place where you moved after GR? We should catch up!
Those are some interesting observations. I’ve heard similar about Dollar Tree multiple times over the past month. The Goodwill one was a new one. How are they going to stay in business if they don’t take donations? That’s crazy.
Thank you for mentioning the gas angle. I didn’t think to bring that up, but that is also an issue.
I’ve heard information about Walmart on SouthernPrepper1’s CensorTube channel. He’s been told by a few people that Walmart will probably never be 24 hours again. Our Meijer is no longer 24 hours and I think we’ve heard it probably won’t go back to that as well. Lots of stories of stock spread out a mile wide and an inch deep to make it look like there is stock when there is basically nothing in an entire aisle.
Thanks for the updates! It’s helpful for all of us to be aware of what’s going on.

I’ve got another one.
THE MAIL.
Is it just us or is the mail extremely slow right now? I know it’s June and vacation time, but things that normally take 2-3 days at the most to get here are taking a week or more. It’s really frustrating.
