I’m Still Alive

We’ve been busy today getting ready for our yard sale tomorrow. I really do not like doing them and I think I said the last time I did one I would never do one again. But we’ve got a lot of good stuff that is too nice to just give to Goodwill so we thought we would try a sale for a few hours on Saturday. Then the leftovers will go to Goodwill because I want the stuff out of my house! My parents loaded us up with a bunch of stuff they were ready to get rid of as well so we have a respectable amount of things to put out.

My doctor called today and I have an appointment on Monday to learn how to use my diabetes equipment, including insulin. I’m too tired to write about it now. But it stinks and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. I try to be honest on my blog and I’m not going to put on a happy face about it tonight when I’m not happy about it. The better attitude will come soon, but right now I’m still in the “this stinks” mode.

On a brighter note, Amy and Holly stopped by today. (The same Holly of recent darling sleeping baby picture fame.) David got to hold her first and he was thrilled when she calmed down, sighed and fell asleep in his arms. He’s going to be a good daddy. 🙂

Sallie, have you checked into craigslist.com for your area? You wouldn’t believe how well we’ve done selling on there. We’re an hour away from a city that is covered by Craig’s List and people will drive that far to buy things! 😉

Oh, and I’m with ya on the “that stinks” feeling. One good thing is you’ll feel better on the diabetic diet. I felt the best when I was on it even though it was a bit of a hassle.

🙁 I understand that “this stinks” feeling… it takes time to adjust to bad things. I’m curious how they know you need to be on insulin already? I’m on my 2nd pregnancy with GD and have been able to control it with diet and exercise and don’t remember them mentioning much about insulin.

I was pretty shocked with my diganosis and got freaked out about it for a while. I couldn’t believe I had it… I had none of the risk-factors! But it has been a good lesson for me in taking care of myself and how I should be eating. You’ll learn quite a bit about your own body and how it reacts to certain foods and amounts by monitoring your blood sugar.

Going through my own blog, I found some posts from shortly after I was diagnosed with GD the first time. If you’re interested they’re at

this is exactly how we run our yardsales…go for a few hours then everything left over goes to goodwill! LOL

How sweet that David was so good with the baby. Always helps to know that they’ll make good daddies, no? **smile**

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
