Joanna asked a question in the Chatterbox about the purpose statement of the True Womanhood blog. If you are interested, I’ve started a discussion over there.

Oh thank you thank you thank you for letting us know about this wonderful site! I have been so down lately because it seems that almost every Christian blog I visit (except yours) and every woman’s book I find at the Christian book store tells me that I am sinful and not fulfilling God’s plan because I plan to teach next year. I live for my family first and it really hurts when I go to these “Biblical Womanhood” sites where only one view is held up as holy. True Womanhood is truly inspirational…especially when you are 37 weeks pregnant and EVERYTHING makes you cry. 🙂

    Katy,

You are welcome. I hope you find the TW site encouraging. And I’m glad you are encouraged when you come here. I hope no Christian woman who comes here leaves feeling depressed or discouraged. Women can leave here uplifted, challenged, thoughtful, convicted, motivated to study, or happy. But I hope that what I write never makes women feel discouraged. I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I enjoy helping people think about the topics that are already on their mind. I do have my own convictions about pretty much every topic, but they are my convictions. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me about them and some of them I don’t even write about because I don’t feel called to do so. Believe me when I say it is challenging enough to follow Christ and walk in the Holy Spirit in my own life. I certainly don’t want to try to be the Holy Spirit for bunches of other people! 🙂

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
