Narrative Deployment – Who and Why?

I realized I should have been using the term narrative deployment with some of my recent posts. This term is not my own creation. You will hear it used in many different places.

Narrative deployment is simply getting the story you want out into the conversation. You do this because you desire to control the narrative around any particular news event, coming event, etc. The trick for the average person is determining who is pushing the narrative and for what purpose. Why do they want me to think about this now and why do they want me to think about it this way?

So, for example, in my post from yesterday (How Much of Our History Is a Lie?), it would have been more precise for me to describe these different stories about our questionable history as narrative deployments. Someone is pushing these ideas of our history being false. Who? And why now?

There have always been people who questioned the official narrative. Lots of people never believed the “official” story about the JFK assassination. Plenty of people have never bought the moon landing story. Many people question aspects of the World War 2 narrative. This isn’t a recent thing.

However, the arrival of tools like social media and CensorTube has changed the deployment of narratives. Narratives can spread so much more quickly now. TikTok, in particular, has brought about the incredibly rapid spread of discussion regarding narratives of this nature.

I heard one person describe the waves of this on YouTube in the “truther” or “conspiracy” areas as starting out strongly with the Mandela Effect several years ago. That was a huge topic for some time. Then it was Flat Earth and Biblical Cosmology. Then it was Tartaria and the Mud Floods. Then Hidden History and Altered Timelines. That continues among secular content creators, but among Christians in those circles it is now it is the Millennial Reign of Christ and the Short Season of Revelation 20.

Where are these narrative deployments coming from? Why? And if there is truth in any of these narrative deployments, who is telling the truth and who has been sent into the discussion to subvert it?
