Happy Girl Day 2024!

Every May 11 our family celebrates It’s a Girl! Day. This is the day I found out via my ultrasound we were having a girl. We had prayed for many years for a baby and, specifically, a daughter.

I’ve written other posts about Girl Day including the origin of the holiday and this one from 2021 that includes many pictures from over the years – Celebrating Our 15th “It’s a Girl! Day” (Lots of pictures!).

Do you have pictures of your child from when she (or he) was much younger that seem to perfectly encapsulate some aspect of her personality as she’s grown older? This is one of those for me. My dad took this one when they were visiting. Caroline has an excellent sense of humor and a strong appreciation for laughing at the ridiculous.

We’re so thankful for Caroline. She is a life-changing blessing to us and many others. We are deeply grateful to the Lord to be able to celebrate this answer to prayer each year.

Yes, we have a picture of our highly-verbal oldest child when she was a baby, very confidently telling us all about something in baby talk.

    God bless your family!

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
