Happy Monday, Friends! I hope you had a good weekend. I’m feeling a bit better, but still have a ways to go. I was able to see the chiropractor this morning who told me he has seen so many people already today with the same virus. One person was told by his doctor that it takes three to four weeks to really work through the cough so I’m guessing it will still take a me a bit.

As an update to the other news I shared, David found out that the school reversed their decision and he is actually going to be teaching one of his classes. He received his contract in the mail today so we were very thankful.

David cleaned all of the stovetop parts this morning for me as a surprise. So I can cross that off my list from previous weeks even though I didn’t do it.

My goals this week are all Christmas since I have quite a few things to do.

Goal 1 – Finish Christmas shopping and wrap gifts. I did almost all my shopping for David and Caroline last night on Amazon. It isn’t the way I wanted to do it, but this year I’m very thankful for the option to click and get it delivered to my home. One trip to Meijer for stocking stuffers and I’ll basically be done.

Goal 2 – Send out Christmas cards.

Goal 3 – Make the two kinds of Christmas treats Caroline and David requested (later in the week).

I’d also like to take some time to sit down read some of my favorite Christmas stories by the fire. I haven’t wanted to be anywhere near a dry air producing fireplace with my cough. Hopefully I can do that this week. That’s one of my favorite things to do at Christmastime – read favorite books by the fire with the Christmas lights on. (It doesn’t take much to make me happy.)

What is on your to do list this week? Please share in the comments!

If you are new to my site and have never participated, I hope you will. You can find lots of inspiration in my shop under All Products for Women.

    1. Clean my bedroom.
    2. Move board games upstairs.
    3. Start cleaning school/sewing room.

That’s my theory, I had one of your “door shut” moments this afternoon, and am sincerely thinking about putting a locking door on the sewing room because of the messes my daughter leaves.

Oh dear. That doesn’t sound good about the sewing room. LOL!

We’ve found that moving things around to a different location makes a big difference in how much we use them. I hope it’s helpful!

Happy Friday, Friends! I hope your Christmas preparations and celebrations are going well. We’ve had a quiet week at home since Caroline and I are both still feeling rather slow. I called her doctor’s nurseline to ask about the virus going around since Caroline was still complaining of headaches, even after going to the chiropractor. The nurse said it takes weeks (!) to really bounce back from this one and unless we’re running a moderately high temperature for three days in a row, there is nothing else to do but wait it out. So three to four weeks of this.

Because of this, my week was not as productive as I expected. It rarely takes me this long to bounce back from a cold. But we keep plugging along and get a little bit done each day.

So how did I do with my goals for the week?

Goal 1 was to finish Christmas shopping and wrap gifts. I have most of my shopping done and most of what I’ve purchased wrapped. I still need stocking stuffers, but haven’t even wanted to go to Meijer because of my coughing and tiredness. So I need to either decide to go to Meijer or place one last order on Amazon and be done with it.

Goal 2 was to send out Christmas cards. Most of them are done and sitting on my desk. I’m going to finish them this morning and have David take them to the post office.

Goal 3 was to make the two kinds of Christmas treats Caroline and David requested (later in the week). I haven’t done this yet. Maybe we will make one on Saturday and one on Sunday since I have all the ingredients for them.

Good Morning Sallie. Not much going on in our neck of the woods. I did get a project done in my office this week so I am happy about that. Christmas will be quiet as it’s just hubby and I. I’ve been listening to Christmas hymns all week and enjoying that. What are your favorite 2 treats you will be making? We have gone through 2 batches of our favorite cookie….a dense spiced raisin cookie.

      Hi Kelly,

I hope you had a good Christmas with your husband!

One of the cookies is like a shortbread (kind of) with candied cherries and pecans. That’s the one Caroline loves. The other is a Christmas bark made out of saltines. David loves that one. There are many other Christmas cookies I liked, but since it’s only the two of them to eat them it doesn’t make sense to make any more than that. Even making those is really too much for two people if we don’t have any company.

I was planning on posting a lot of recipes and such for Christmas, but sickness pretty much derailed all of that.

I really need to do Christmas in July. I always think about it and maybe in 2020 that will be the plan. Then it will be all done. LOL!

    Hi Sallie,
It’s great to hear from you! I’m glad to hear that you and Caroline are recovering.
Our home continues it’s transition from everyone living here and homeschooling to an almost empty nest. I had no idea this would be such a long transition. Silly me.
This Christmas, and Thanksgiving too for that matter, are very different from last year, when my husband was laid up with a broken leg. He broke it on 11/1/18. We were unable to do much of our usual hustle bustle things, and we discovered the joy of gift cards. lol! This year, I’m working Christmas Day as a favor to a coworker who has a young daughter around Caroline’s age, and no extended family nearby. We will have a Christmas open house on Christmas Eve which will help my daughter and Son in Law, because they’re invited to his Mom’s on Christmas Day. We’re also having open house on Christmas Day even though I won’t be there till late afternoon.
Christmas cards didn’t happen this year, and I’m not stressing to get them out. I’m thankful for the true blessings in life, and of course for the true reason for the season.
Hope you and your family enjoy a blessed Christmas!

      Hi Cheryl,

I hope you had a good Christmas. I hope your open houses went well. I wish our house was bigger for things like that. Our home works well for the three of us on a daily basis or having a few people over, but it’s not set up at all for larger groups of people. I like having people over so I miss that.

I managed to get my Christmas cards out at the last minute, but no picture was included. Between the late Thanksgiving and sickness, I was really off my game this year. LOL! But we had a good Christmas in spite of it all so we’re thankful for that.

      Good to hear from you!

Oh believe me, our open houses are nothing to write home about. The idea originally came from my Mom. She always encouraged us to try to be aware of people who might not have any place to spend Christmas. I guess that’s what I meant by open house. I try to keep the door open throughout the holidays for this purpose. My Mom was one of the most generous people I’ve ever known. Funny thing is, the house I grew up in has a grand total of 900 sq. ft. of living space. I just looked up on Zillow recently.

Hope you and Caroline are feeling better soon. We have finished shopping. We are in the midst of wrapping. Our tree went up with not much trouble. We always buy a live tree. it is 8 feet. We ordered all the groceries we need for the Christmas dinner. We are enjoying watching some of our favorite Christmas movies and music. Wishing you, David and Caroline a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy,Healthy 2020.

      Hi Marilyn,

I hope you had a good Christmas! It sounds like you had it all well in hand when you wrote this.

What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

    I did okay.

I got the board games upstairs! It’s amazing!
I got a bit of cleaning done in my room, but not much. All of the boxes that hold Christmas stuff are currently in there, which doesn’t help that.
I pretty much did nothing in the sewing/school room but look at it and get depressed.

      Hi Ticia,

I’m glad it helped to move the games!

Your sewing/school room = my basement. I cannot get on top of it. Like for years. It just overwhelms me. I’m putting it on my list of goals for 2020. Maybe this time? LOL!
