A few months ago we had a great thread here where you all gave me suggestions for registering. I definitely put those suggestions to good use!
At the time, Cheri suggested that it might be interesting to have a thread on good baby music. I did register for a few CDs and actually purchased a couple that were being discontinued when I tried to register for them. But I am interested in hearing what kinds of CDs you would recommend. I’m especially interested in classical, Christian, and lullaby type CDs.
Thanks!

My mother put my brother to bed every night with “Bless My Little Boy.” The songs on that CD were awesome!
There is a “Bless My Little Girl.”
They are Christian Lullibies–perfect for rocking and cuddling time. I liked that some are even prayers song over your baby.

I’m flattered, Sallie. 🙂
Your doing this thread will be a help to me as I would like expand our collection.
I love this one: Lullabies, Close Your Eyes. We were given a copy of this by our home church and I put it away til after I got pregnant (even 9 months of wondering if I would ever be mother was rough on me and my faith). The songs are very beautiful although some of them remind me a bit of Christian Pop in the 80’s. All of them pass my very strict standards however, so I highly recommend this CD:

I have fond memories of lying down listening to it during the last month before my first baby was born and later singing the songs to my little ones. Now I can sing all the songs by heart and it’s time to add some more CDs to our collection, too. 🙂

Someone gave us a PraiseBaby CD (I believe they’re available at Amazon), and it’s gorgeous. I even listen to it when baby’s not around, I love it so much!

We love the LullaBible set. There is a progression through each song that takes the baby through the Bible. For instance, the first song is creation and I think the second tells the story of Noah and the ark. We give this set (2 CDs) as shower gifts a lot, and the mommies always love it. 🙂 My oldest is four, and when he seems wild, he still likes to listen to it!

Sleep Sound In Jesus by Michael Card is our absolute favorite lullaby CD.
All my kids have a CD in their players at bedtime each night. It has been a soothing routine/ritual since birth.

I second the Michael Card title.
And for when your wee one is older and wants to wiggle, “Buzz Buzz” by Laurie Berkner is a huge hit in our van.

Sallie, here is a cd:

You can listen to clips of each song. I personally know the pianist, and highly recommend the cd!

Another vote for the Michael Card CD.
My little guy is almost 2. We love I Can Only Imagine: Lullabies for a Peaceful Rest – http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000TWMY8/sr=8-1/qid=1150953429/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-5783139-1468040?%5Fencoding=UTF8
We dance before nap.

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ve been adding them to my Amazon registry if they have been available. 🙂

Just found your blog through Mrs. Happy Housewife…
Congratulations on your first little one coming so soon! With my first one, I LOVED this one (The McCaughey Septuplets: Sweet Dreams) given to me as a gift. And now, for my second baby (I’m about a trimester behind you I think), I’ll be anxiously waiting to buy the new lullaby album from Sparrow Records called Sing Over Me (with Nicole Nordeman, Erin O’Donnell, Bethany Dillon and Christy Nockels).

I second Lullabies – Close Your Eyes. I received this 5 years or so ago, around the time my first child was born. I love most of these songs and listen to them for myself as well as for my little ones. The lyrics of most of them are absolutely wonderful for Christian parents. We have fairly strict music standards, and though I’d say they are a bit pop-sounding, they aren’t extremely so.
