A Little Update

I haven’t disappeared or given up my website. I needed some time to think about things and see where God might be leading me next after dividing this website into two. I’m very happy with that decision and the creation of a second website where I can freely post content. It’s actually a relief and quite freeing to not have to wonder if I’m upsetting people by posting that type of content.

It then left me to decide what to do with this website. I removed so much content when I moved it to the second site that this one felt a little bare by comparison. I’ve spent much less time on the remaining categories over the past three or four years. I wasn’t sure what I had to say about them right now.

So I honestly wasn’t sure what to do. I waited for the Lord to lead. He sent some unexpected answers including “happening” across a YouTuber who made me realize I have a lot more to say about homeschooling and gifted/2e at this point of my life. A lot of it is because I disagreed with so much of what she said. LOL! I told a friend that every time I would watch part of one of her videos, I would come up with four or five posts I wanted to write myself.

You might remember this graphic from a book review I did in Homeschooling a Child with Language-Based Learning Disabilities (LBLD).

I wrote that post in June of 2019. Caroline was 12.75 years old. If you look at that chart, you can see where we were in our journey. We were at the maximum disparity time and it was very difficult. She’s now 16.5 years old and I can tell you that rapid shot up toward her peers is so very true. I have a lot to say about homeschooling during the four years we’ve just lived through which I basically did not write about in real time for many reasons. Now that I’m well along my homeschooling journey, I have a lot to say.

We also purchased three long, wall-mounted bookshelves for my office so I could have almost all of my books in the office with me. More on that another day.

There are other things behind what I’m doing, but for now know that we’re going to be changing this website pretty substantially over the rest of this week. I’ve already done quite a bit you haven’t seen in terms of removing posts I no longer want on here (reviews, etc.). But we’re going to be making decisions and changes in real time so things might look weird at times.

Thank you for your patience (again!) as we take care of this.

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to thoughtfully examine all of life and think for yourself.
