I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was restful. We enjoyed doing some things around the house and took a pleasant and relaxing drive one evening. I chose a lilac picture for this post because they have exploded all over the area and I love the smell of them.
Rather than working on posts or products this weekend, I took the time to make some meaningful changes to my office and simplify things a bit. I took down everything from the walls except my floral art pictures that are over my corner desk on the left side. (I put up a picture of them in this post, but it doesn’t do them justice.) We filled in all the holes and touched up the walls with paint. Then I thoughtfully put up only a few items I truly wanted on the walls at this point in my life.
I purchased two lamps for my desk. Up until now I had been using non-matching leftovers that we had on hand. I moved the nicer one to our homeschooling table in my office and purchased these cute pineapple lamps for my desk. They are even prettier than I expected them to be for the price so I’m pleased. I was concerned they might look like cheap acrylic, but they don’t. They are cheerful looking which I like and I’ve used pineapples throughout my home over the years so they fit right in. (Pineapples are a symbol of hospitality.)
When I was looking online for desk lamps, David suggested looking at Walmart. I don’t think to look on their website very often because we don’t shop there. (We have Meijer and no need for Walmart.) I did find some charming kitchen curtains that I thought would look cute in my office if I only used the valance. The walls in here are a lightish blue and the curtains looked like they had enough variety of blues that I thought they would work. I bought these and put them up with a basic white rod.
They look great and definitely finish off the room, especially in that corner. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the bottom four panels now. I told Caroline someone really clever would turn them into a skirt or something. I’m not clever in that way. LOL! I put them in the closet for now.
So my office got a little spruce up and simplification. We didn’t spend much, but it did make a difference and I’m thankful. Between work and homeschooling I spend many hours in this room each day. It’s worth it to make it as cheerful and pleasant as possible.
I’m hoping to respond to your comments today. I gave myself permission to not work this weekend and it was a good choice.
What did you do this weekend? I hope you’ll leave a comment and share. ♥
Hello! I spent a lot of time over the weekend reading books, and we went out so I could buy a crochet hook–which was a big deal because our vehicle is in the middle of a big repair saga, and I hadn’t ridden anywhere all month.
We also had a power outage, thankfully a short one.
