These two barn books have been Caroline’s two favorite books for about three weeks now.  She wants to hear them every night at bedtime.

First is Barn Dance!, a fun book about a little boy who sneaks out to the barn in the middle of the night to dance in the hoedown with the scarecrow and the animals.  Lots of fun illustrations and a rollicking rhythm to the text.

The other is Inside a Barn in the Country: A Rebus Read-along Story. This has humorous illustrations that Caroline enjoys.  Because it is a repetitive rebus book, she can “read” parts of it (which she does very loudly and enthusiastically!).

And let us not forget one of her all-time favorite board books – Big Red Barn! I can’t imagine how many times we read this one. Good times!

“We who live in quiet places have the opportunity to become acquainted with ourselves, to think our own thoughts and live our own lives in a way that is not possible for those keeping up with the crowd.”
Laura Ingalls Wilder

“After Laura and Mary had washed and wiped the dishes, swept the floor, made their bed, and dusted, they settled down with their books. But the house was so cozy and pretty that Laura kept looking up at it.”

“They were cosy and comfortable in their little house made of logs, with the snow drifted around it and the wind crying because it could not get in by the fire.”
