This Year’s Christmas Ornament

I wrote last year that David and I have a tradition of purchasing ornaments whenever we go on vacation. When we decorate our tree each year, it is a walk down memory lane as we remember different events and locations we’ve visited.

Last year we didn’t take a vacation because we bought new carpet for the living room, dining room, entry, stairs and upstairs hall (planned) as well as a new furnace (not planned). So we made our own “we didn’t go on vacation” ornament for the tree.

This year we didn’t go on vacation either. (I don’t like this trend!) But someone else provided this year’s special ornament. Yes, it is a peanut.

My second-cousin-who-is-more-like-an-aunt, Barb, found this peanut ornament for one of my baby showers. I received a lot of nice gifts at that shower, but I have to admit this one was my favorite. It was so unexpected and clever. So it is the 2006 ornament and is displayed front and center on our tree!

The tree is up already? Wow! I will have to place mine strategically this year or else Daniel will end up underneath it!
