This year was necessary if we want to live in a better world
For most people, 2021 will go down as a difficult year. But rather than recount the difficulties each one of us faced to varying degrees, I want to focus on the necessity of the year.
Most people reading this post will say they knew the systems and institutions in America were broken. However, I don’t think most of us knew just how badly broken they were.
Beyond broken, many of us were naive to how completely corrupt and compromised they truly are.
We had to see this. We had to experience it. Facing the reality of what we are surrounded by and what controls virtually every aspect of our lives was absolutely essential.
Without facing the truth, we would never have the courage and resolve to face the daunting task ahead of us.
Our country and our culture won’t be repaired in a few months or even a few years. We need to adjust our thinking. This is going to be a task that will require many years.
As weary as we are of the never-ending problems, betrayals, and lies, we have to push on. We must keep praying. We must keep asking for discernment. We must keep making the hard choices.
If we don’t, we won’t have anything worth passing on to the next generation. Our children and grandchildren are depending on us to do the hard things. If we don’t do the hard things now, we cannot fathom the evil world that awaits us and them.
If we want the joy and hope of The First Turning, we have to get through the darkest parts of The Fourth Turning.
Turning the calendar page isn’t going to change much tonight. New year, same set of problems that must be dealt with.
But as 2021 comes to a close, we know so much more than we did one year ago. We have a better idea of who controls us and who is actively working every day toward our destruction.
We’re better equipped to fight. With God’s help, we will get there.
