The Happy Warrior Was On Medical Leave

Almost two weeks ago I purchased the microphone I had wanted for some time and had previously mentioned. I was ready to get back into the swing of things. Caroline and David were finally healthy. Our taxes were done. We had completed a solid week of homeschooling after so many stops and starts since Thanksgiving. I was looking forward to getting back on track in all aspects of life.

The day after I bought the microphone, I came down sick and lost my voice.

I’m getting better every day, but for well over a week I was not up to doing a whole lot. The voice and coughing thing was the worst. I understand it’s going around so I’m one of the many to get this particular version of the cold this year.

On top of that, my main EoE medicine is now not available anywhere. The pharmaceutical company stopped making the brand name and switched to a generic out of the blue at the end of 2023. No warning to pharmacies, doctors, patients, etc. They just did it. My refill request has been sitting at Meijer for a month and I still don’t have it. My other doctor called in a prescription for me at another pharmacy chain last week to hopefully increase my chances of getting it. If you think of me, please pray I can get this medicine before I run out. I know there are all kinds of medicine shortages and I submitted my refill well before I would need it. I expected it might take a few weeks. However, I was not anticipating needing to wait months. So I have joined the happy band of people rationing their medication beyond their needed dosing because we currently live in a collapsing country where these things now happen with regularity.

Stolen elections have massive consequences, don’t they?

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to. I did manage to post several Homeschooling with Cozy Books and Unit Study posts that were already partially written as well as a few others. I also did some other things behind the scenes so all was not lost.

I hope you are healthy and able to find the things your family needs during these challenging times.

Hi Sallie, I do pray you got your medications… or soon will. This just happened to my son Erick here in Northfield, Minnesota . He had a liver transplant a few years back. He is healed up from that for the most part, but over Thanksgiving eating salty things his water weight went up. Now I know why it has taken six weeks for him to get the Torsimide he needed so much. That is another name for Lasix I think. You just answered my question about it and quelled my total frustratino too, at the medical profession falling apart. So, many thanks !
I loved your post on COZY books and have been busy too , and do not homeschool, but am a teacher retired for students at risk k-12. I love seeing what teachers do now days.

I hope you are better. I am sure you have Elderberry syrup and hot lemon and teas to help aooth the the throat and bring you some comfort. God just might be telling you to slow down too and let HIM take care of you a little.

I hope your weather is not too severe. Here in Minnesota where it is usually below zero and lots of snow, we have no snow.. no rain.. and it is forty and fifty above zero . Our farmers are concerned with the drought. . I actually forgot where you are. I will look it up.
‘Well, Miss Wonderful, just relax.. and your children are doing well, your husband is am sure the pets are well tended. So how about a good movie you like,

I do not even have a tv,but watch movies on this small computer .. a few Great American Christmas ones are now my favorites with Candice Cameron Burree and Danica MacKeller.. you woul dlike them ..one is A ROYAL CHRISMTAS DATE sweet little no mind show of Love….

. I do a lot of writing on our book, and do art work, write poetry and am busy too all the time. BUT,, I is nice to just ..do nothing sometimes for people like us..who are always busy helping others

I stand in awe of all you do, and all you know and how you put it all together so beautifully.
So take care of YOU ! You are appreciated and loved greatly by not only your family, but those of us who love what you do and follow you God is speaking to you ..so you be a good little lamb and listen to Him.. . He will take good care of you. . Blessings and Much Love, Merri in Northfield , Minnesota and my Spirit Cat Bart. xx Blessings ..

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.
