Rolling Up My Sleeves During Spring Break

Caroline and I finished up her schoolwork yesterday and are now on spring break until April 10. We’ll be staying home during this time.

(Fun fact: I’ve never been anywhere on spring break which I imagine is highly unusual for someone who has lived her entire life in the snowy north.)

I have a few goals for the rest of this week and next week.

  • One, spend time on homeschool documentation and planning for the next few months.
  • Two, organize my kitchen.
  • Three, “catch up” on my two websites.

The third one comes with a bit of warning. You might feel inundated with new posts on both of my websites. It’s not my goal to overwhelm people with content, but to clear out the back end of my websites.

Last night I posted a few dozen older posts on this website. I hope to clear out the backlog of both older posts I’m republishing and new posts that are partially finished. Yesterday I uploaded the 2023-24 versions of my editable homeschool planners which was a big task off our to do list. Last year we didn’t get them updated until June so we are way ahead of the game this year!

On my other site (now closed), I plan to move all the forum content I wish to keep into actual posts that are backdated to when I originally posted the content in the forum. (I’ve already explained why I’m doing that over there so I won’t explain it again.) I’ll then delete the forum which will be one less thing to manage and pay for. I’ve already started doing this over the past few weeks. For example, this week I reposted all of the information related to Cru and Vision Forum. I’ve also been revising the category and tag system to make things more searchable so that is part of the process that I’ll continue doing.

These are ambitious plans, but that’s what I’m hoping to do!

What are you doing with your spring break? Did you already have it? Is it next week? I hope you’ll leave a comment and share. ♥

We don’t usually take a spring break but I’m now thinking we should do one this year, when the weather is less like winter and more like spring.

The first plants were poking up in the garden last week, and then we got a bit of a thunderstorm, immediately followed by 5 inches of wet snow. We had a couple of tree branches down, and were blessed to not lose power.

The older children have been doing spring cleaning and rearranging in their rooms, and both they and I are very pleased with the results.

For 20+ years, I’ve been writing about following Jesus Christ and making choices based on what is true, beautiful, and eternal. Through purposeful living, self-employment, and homeschooling, our family has learned that freedom comes from a commitment to examine all of life and think for yourself.

I hope you will join me here where we discuss all of life each day.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
