We enjoyed a quiet Labor Day weekend at home. I thought it would be very cool to go into labor on Labor Day, but since it is 7:26 p.m. I don’t think that is going to happen. I would welcome Peanut coming early, but I just don’t want her to come on 9/11 for all the obvious reasons.

I did manage to get out the door to church yesterday morning, but it took everything I had to do so! But we were blessed to be there. While I was dragging myself through my preparations I started thinking about the whole pregnancy confinement thing from past generations. Part of me thought how nice it would be to enter a period of confinement at the end of pregnancy because no one could have any expectations of you except to have a baby at the end. But then I have to think that required confinement would not necessarily be seen as a blessing if it were forced upon you by society. I don’t know. I’m still thinking about this one.

I’ve been collecting links to things online I found interesting, encouraging or just otherwise thought-provoking. Since I have finally admitted to myself that I will never get around to writing about any of these, I thought I would just go ahead and share some links.

I enjoyed reading Mississippi Girl’s story regarding her twisting and turning journey from a nursing degree to marrying her husband to a graduate degree to a stay-at-home mom. I love to read how God works so uniquely in the lives of His children. You can read Part 1 and Part 2.

Kim at One Woman’s Cottage Life mentions a few topics near and dear to my heart as well as a book that sounds intriguing…

Jollyblogger was on quite a roll with some great posts when he got back from vacation. I thoroughly enjoyed You Know You Are Not Reformed If… And if all of the ridiculous slang and pointless vocal inflections of our day drive you batty like they do me, you will enjoy Totally Like Whatever, You Know?

Lastly, don’t miss Peggy Noonan’s piece on Embarrassing the Angels Or, that’s no way to treat a lady. She writes in part about airport security since 9-11, something I haven’t experienced first-hand because I haven’t had a reason to fly since 9-11. But in talking with women who have flown, I find flying less and less appealing when I think of having to potentially subject myself to this kind of stuff. She also discusses the general lack of appropriateness in our society and how we must be embarrassing the angels who are around us. This quote from the article sums it up for me: America has become creepy for women who think of themselves as ladies. It has in fact become assaultive.
