Am I the only one who doesn't understand why so many people are taking Ozempic (or some other form of it)?
I understand why diabetics use it. But everyone else?
I really don't understand the push for Ozempic. I've read about so many serious negative side effects. Plus you put all the weight back on when you stop using it so you become dependent on the medication.
And I don't mean this as a slam against anyone who might be using it. I simply don't understand the willingness to take the risk with it.
What am I missing?

Obesity is risky already, so it is perceived as trading one set of risks for another, while gaining all the other benefits of being thinner--?
@peggy I don't know. Yes, obesity has risks, but the side effects from the Ozempic seem far more dire.

@sallie I think Ozempic is a high risk as well as Wegovy. Both weight loss medications. Much weight loss can be done by diet and exercise. The American diet is not the healthiest. My health autoimmune health issues can mostly be fixed by diet. Not high-risk meds which have been offered and strongly declined. The Europeans have much healthier food than we do. Our entire system is horrible.
@kris I think what is causing a lot of obesity is poor food, stress, and hopelessness.
Then add in a lack of sleep due to screens (escaping real life) and/or working multiple jobs.
I know what lack of sleep has done to my weight in the past. It ballooned.
It's a wonder anyone is healthy today.
