The Euphrates River often comes up related to the "end times."
In this post, I provided a different interpretation compared to what is popularly taught: Recapitulation in Revelation – Seals, Trumpets, and Chalices. Here is the mention.
The Sixth Chalice (The Euphrates and the Kings of the East) The drying up of the Euphrates River is historically interpreted as the removal of barriers for the Roman legions to approach Jerusalem. The “kings of the east” refers to the Roman generals, particularly Vespasian and Titus, who led the forces that marched from the East (Syria/Asia Minor) to lay siege to the holy city.

There are many solid explanations for this passage in Revelation that don't require helicopters and the like. Explanations that make perfect sense for the original recipients of the letter - "the seven churches which are in Asia" (Revelation 1:4)
