I have mentioned the questions swirling around the Scofield Bible and Cyrus I. Scofield a number of times. At long last, I’m putting together a post that will give readers plenty to dive into.
I’ve debated how to organize this post over the past few months while looking for an opportunity to do it. I decided to start with a video Shelly at There’s No Place Like Home did last week. She offers a good overview of the criticisms of C.I. Scofield and his reference Bible in general. I recommend watching this first if this is all fairly new to you. I appreciate articles like this because the Scofield controversy has generated a tremendous amount of repetition and assumption over the years from all sides. One thing I’ve discovered while researching the topic is how often modern claims trace back to earlier secondary sources that themselves lacked direct documentary evidence.
